Biodynamic Therapy in Abergavenny
The Body-Mind Connection
The Body Speaks its Mind
Stress leading to discomfort or disease demonstrates clearly the connection between the mind and the body. Biodynamic therapists realise that to be in a good state of health, and have independent well-being, mind and body have to co-exist in harmony.
A Biodynamic therapist is trained to address both physical and psychological problems, seeking to correct the imbalances which affect both body and mind, while most other therapies will treat either mind or body in isolation.Physical conditions like high blood pressure, migraines, irritable bowel syndrome etc, may well be connected to psychological or behavioural conditions such as anxiety, depression, addictions to name a few, although the connection may not be obvious.
Biodynamic methods combine psychotherapeutic "talking" therapy with physical methods including massage to restore healthy balance on all levels. Biodynamic Massage is also available as a treatment in its own right.
We have only to see a mother holding and stroking her hurt child to witness the reassuring, calming and healing effect of the power of touch. This work is appropriate for pregnant women; underlying stresses can be eliminated from the mother and their effects on the unborn child. This is preventative medicine at its most fundamental.
I was trained by Gerda Boyesen, the Norwegian founder of the Biodynamic method, at the Gerda Boyesen Institute in London, and qualified in 1987. I believe I am the only therapist trained by her working in South Wales. I am totally committed to the exciting field of Body-Mind and Preventative Medicine.
