Homeopathy in Abergavenny

Individual Health Care with Bryony Longden

Let's Talk

Homeopathy is an effective and safe system of healing that treats symptoms as the body's intelligent response to problems with it's 'housekeeping"; from stress at work to poor quality food, or a polluted environment.

For example diarrhoea is an attempt to rid the body of unsuitable food, toxins and or accumulated pathogens (unhelpful or harmful colonies of bacteria in the intestines). Stopping the symptom, often slows complete recovery and is inadvisable unless there is a plane to catch!

Abergavenny Homeopathy

As a homeopath in Abergavenny I look at why conditions have arisen and take note of what the patient thinks is important, as well as individual likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, health history and any other symptoms (often perceived as being totally separate to the main issue). We know that the mind, body and spirit are completely interlinked and codependent. Are we surprised when someone gets ill after a traumatic event, or worrying about finances? Homeopathy is a wonderful tool for helping the body to heal itself.  Instead of giving the same remedy to let's say everyone with flu, homeopaths look at the individual symptoms such as achey back, flushed face, or gastric symptoms and choose a remedy to match.  Homeopathy means a system of healing using like to treat like.  An example would be coffee which generally is a stimulant and a pick-me-up. The remedy made from coffee is used to treat insomnia when the person is overexcited and cannot sleep.

Homeopaths are less interested in the names of diseases than in the specific symptoms . For example someone suffering from arthritis will be asked: 'What time of day are your joints worse? What sensation is there? How does movement/ rest affect the joint? Is it always the same joint? Does weather affect the condition? What makes you feel better/ worse?'

Acute conditions may clear up after one visit, chronic problems will take longer, but generally the first symptom of improvement is a feeling of increasing well-being. The patient comes first, and I would not hesitate to recommend different treatments if more appropriate.
